Maximize quality assurance in the aerospace industry
Nagoya Quality Assurance Technology Co., Ltd. is a company that specializes in providing quality assurance services related to the manufacture of aerospace equipment, including aircraft, rockets, and aero engines. Established in 1988. Mr. Masami Ishida, the founder and first president, and Mr. Nanao Usami, the second president, are both from the Nagoya Aircraft Works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Nadcap certification
"There are few cases in the aerospace industry where quality assurance is outsourced to a contractor." says Mr. Haruhisa Yamamoto, Representative Director and Chairman of Nagoya Quality Assurance Technology. As for the company's strengths, Chairman Yamamoto says that the company has a high technological capability through measurement and a flexible and sincere attitude toward service.
“We could build trust relationships with our customers because we could demonstrate our tireless work in facing the challenge of improving inspection technology and our attitude of focusing on satisfying customer needs. Especially, when our customers‘ requirements for quality assurance became more stringent and systematic by the acquisition of JISQ9100 certification and Nadcap accreditation, we could show great improvements in our potential. "
In 2014, Nagoya Quality Assurance Technology purchased a CNC CMM CRYSTA-Apex S 574 from Mitutoyo a laser tracker for large structures and precision measuring instruments for use within the plant premises of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. In addition, it is said that the company's business has grown rapidly because of the development and success of human resources who are familiar with measurement system and programs.
"You can buy equipment, but you can't buy technology. Because of this technology, our company can provide a high level of quality assurance." stresses Mr. Yamamoto.

In recent years, Nagoya Quality Assurance Technology has been actively working to expand its business domain by using its accumulated knowledge and technologies for quality assurance.
One of our initiatives is the education program that teaches the basics of quality assurance. This program is provided for not only companies that wish to newly enter the aerospace industry, but also existing suppliers and aviation colleges. We offer a variety of educational programs, but one of the most unique program is our "Quality Assurance Seminar" which uses model airplanes designed and produced in-house. Mr. Daisuke Hishikawa of the Planning Department explains the content of the report as follows.
Mr. Daisuke Hishikawa,
Planning department,
planning and sales team leader
Mr. Daisuke Hishikawa says, "After we thought and thought about the method to explain the quality assurance activities in an easy-to-understand way, and this seminar has been launched. The idea is to have the participants make a model airplane made of wood and paper and think about 'How can we guarantee the quality of this airplane?'"
They also provide consulting services, such as of JIS Q 9100, that support the construction of quality management systems.
"The consulting business was conceived by our company employees who have long been involved in inspections. Everyone thought that our company’s role was to provide business operators aiming to enter the aerospace industry with the practical technology and knowledge." Mr. Yamamoto says.

In 2018, Komaki Measurement Center was established in Komaki City, which will serve as a base for the new measurement operations of the Nagoya Quality Assurance Technology. They have established a system to support quality assurance by providing manufacturing companies in various fields with measurement services. As for the purpose of the center, Mr. Yamamoto explains, "As we continue to improve our measurement technologies, we believe that this will be a base for applying our accumulated technologies to a wide range of manufacturing activities."
Mr. Kenichi Sugimura,
Manager of Komaki Keisoku Center,
planning department
When we visited the precision measurement room at Komaki Measurement Center, we found many Mitutoyo's precision measurement instruments, including CMM FALCIO-Apex162012 having a measuring range of 1600mm(x-axis)X2000mm(y-axis)X1200mm(z-axis), CMM CRYSTA-Apex S766,CNC vision measuring machine Quick Vision Apex and form measuring instrument Formtracer SV-C3200.

The Komaki Measurement Center is led by Mr. Kenichi Sugimura, Manager of Komaki Measurement Center, who has been working on precision measurement with CMM for 15 years since joining the company. Mr. Sugimura, who regards measurement programing for precise measurement as very important, is trying to do systematic programing by multi programmers.
"I thought that sharing knowledge and techniques of precise measurement among the members would enable us to produce various high-quality outputs. It is not easy to bring together skilled engineers, and in some cases, individual performance may degrade, so we will pursue the possibility while considering the balance between organization and individual." Mr.Sugimura says.
People of this company say, “We will continue to hone the trustworthy technologies that our predecessors have built up, and we will continue to develop these technologies with a dedication to creating new value.”
