Introducing the Crysta-Apex Series: A Family of General-Purpose High-Speed, High-Precision CNC Coordinate Measuring Machines

Mitutoyo Corporation has developed the Crysta-Apex Series, a family of general-purpose CNC coordinate measuring machines designed as successors to the conventional FALCIO Series models. The new machines, which are optimized for high-speed/high-precision operation, will be launched on February 1, 2002.

Coordinate measuring machines have already become mainstream precision measuring instruments. They are indispensable to manufacturers in various sectors in the evaluation of product dimensional accuracy, etc. However, the requirements for coordinate measurements are becoming increasingly sophisticated due to rapid advances in machining and various other manufacturing technologies. Drawing on core coordinate measurement technologies accumulated through years of experience as an industry leader, and incorporating various new technologies, Mitutoyo has added substantial changes to its FALCIO Series of best-selling general-purpose CNC coordinate measuring machines and developed the Crysta-Apex Series. This new line consists of CNC coordinate measuring machines that can meet the growing demand for higher precision, higher speed, easier operation and lower cost.

The Crysta-Apex Series was developed as Mitutoyo's flagship CNC coordinate measuring machine. As such, it incorporates a range of new technologies including "structural design optimization via FEM analysis," "friction-drive system to achieve low-vibration drive" and "temperature-compensation technology to minimize heat strain." There are 11 models in the series, which together offer extensive measurement ranges via a combination of X-axis setting (705, 905 or 1205 mm), Y-axis setting (705, 1005, 1205, 1605, 2005 or 3005 mm) and Z-axis setting (605, 805 or 1005 mm). The new series not only supports the latest general-purpose measuring probes, it also accommodates various exclusive probes for non-contact image measurement, high-speed scanning and effective thread-depth measurement, etc., to meet the specific needs of each customer.
