Mitutoyo Releases its "Quick Vision Accel Series" of High-Speed, Moving-Bridge CNC Vision Measuring Machines

On April 1, 2001, Mitutoyo Corporation will start selling its new Quick Vision Accel Series, a line of high-speed, space-efficient and highly functional CNC vision measuring machines developed to serve the growing variety of IT-related industries.

The fast-growing semiconductor and electronic component industries require vision measuring machines that ensure higher accuracy and functionality in order to meet the increasing demand for smaller, higher-density products. At the same time, companies are taking active steps to increase their productivity, requiring greater efficiency in all aspects of measurement operations. To answer these needs, Mitutoyo has successfully developed and merchandizing the Quick Vision Accel Series. These next-generation, high-speed CNC vision measuring machines combine industry leader Mitutoyo's accumulated know-how in vision and coordinate-measurement technologies, along with the optical technology it has gained as a lens manufacturer.

The Quick Vision Accel Series was developed for use by IT-related companies. Boasting superior features such as moving-bridge type construction, high-speed operation (approximately twice that of a conventional machine), space-saving design (occupying approximately 30 percent less space than a conventional machine) and high functionality, these models are ideal for the measurement of lighter, thinner, shorter and smaller workpieces, e.g., IC packages, connectors, masks, and printed circuit boards.

Mitutoyo's Laser Auto-Focus system, which allows high-speed, high-accuracy Z-axis measurements of warp or bump height in the evaluation of printed circuit boards, etc., is available as an option.

The Quick Vision Accel Series comes in five sizes (the 400, 600 and 800 medium-size machines and the 1250 and 1500 large-size machines), two types (each offering different measuring accuracy), and four grades (based on combinations of illumination units and magnification-variation units), thus allowing the customer to configure a system to their required specifications. After the launch on April 1, Mitutoyo expects to sell 500 units in the first year.

[Features]

(1)
High-Speed, High-Accuracy Dimension Measurement
To increase measuring efficiency, the Quick Vision Series is not only constructed with a high-rigidity but also is designed to achieve an XY-axis drive speed of 400 mm/sec. _almost twice that of conventional machines. Furthermore, the series guarantees a full-speed measuring accuracy U1 of (2.2 + 3L/1000) μm, meaning that greater efficiency of measurement can be achieved without a compromise in accuracy.
(2)
Simpler Workpiece Mounting Jigs
The Quick Vision Series, which adopts the moving-bridge type construction, ensures that the measuring stage remains absolutely stationary. Accordingly, each model uses simpler workpiece mounting jigs, thereby dramatically reducing the man-hours spent on jig fabrication and inspection.
(3)
Smaller Space Requirements
Thanks to moving-bridge-type construction, Quick Vision's space-saving design reduces the installation area by a maximum of 30 percent compared with conventional machines of comparable size.
(4)
Laser Auto-Focus (optional)
Quick Vision can be used in conjunction with a Laser Auto-Focus system (optional), allowing for stable yet high-speed measurement of height during high-speed movement.
