Notice of Issues with the Linear Scale Display Unit KA-200 Counter

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued business and support of our precision measuring instruments. We regret to inform you that we found two software bugs in KA-200 counters produced since April 2015.

In this document we will inform you about the issues with the KA-200 Series and let you know how you can use our product without risk.

We appreciate your continued support, and we will make every effort to continuously ensure the quality and further improvement of our products.

■ Issues details : two issues 

■ Do not use following functions!

These issues occur when the KA-200 counter is used as a standard counter (mill counter)/[Standard Mode (default)], but do not occur when the KA-200 is used as a lathe counter/[Lathe Mode].

(1)     Issue occurring when bolt-hole circle machining

This feature is used on a milling machine usually to calculate the hole position on the circumference by setting the “Diameter”, ”Number of division” and “Offset angle”, then displaying the target drilling position. The issue is that only whole numbers can be entered for the “Offset angle” and anything after the decimal will be truncated. Therefore, processing errors may occur when using this feature.

(2)     Preset input issue

When the resolution is set to 1μm or less, the display value may be one(minimum display unit) less than the input value : For example, when resolution is set to 1μm, the display value may be 1μm less than the input value

e.g. input  X  55.000 ⇒ display  X  54.999   (X :X-Axis)

But, when the resolution is set to 5μm (default setting), this issue does not occur.

Serial numbers of defective products are shown in the following table, please check the serial No. on the nameplate on the product’s rear panel.
