New QUICK IMAGE Series 2-D Vision Measuring Systems Launched
New One-click Measurement Function

Mitutoyo Corporation (Headquarters: Takatsu-ku, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Toru Nakagawa) has been selling the highly versatile Quick Image series 2-D vision measuring system since 2002. Two new systems with one-click measuring functionality, and further improved ease-of-use and operability, have now been added to the series. Mitutoyo will exhibit the systems at JIMTOF2014, the 27th Japanese International Machine Tool Fair, from October 30, and will be located at Booth No. W3021, West Hall 3, at Tokyo Big Sight.

Quick Image enables measurement of stepped workpieces through widefield batch measurement capabilities and a large focal depth, and captures sharp images with a color camera. A new one-click measurement function has now been added to enable measurement and tolerance judgment with a single click after placing the workpiece. Measurement results are displayed in real time directly on the image, which enables tolerance judgments to be seen at a glance. Now also with improved measurement accuracy within the screen and improved E1xy measurement accuracy, Quick Image ensures class-leading quality and security. All high-luminance built-in LED lighting, 3-megapixel camera and other changes enable observation and measurement using even higher resolution images.

New Features

1.

One-click measurement function
•  A function has been added for one-click execution of part programs. This function enables automatic detection of workpiece
   position and inclination, and batch measurement of multiple workpieces with the same shape, up to a maximum of 1,000
   workpieces at one setting.

2.

Easy Mode for operation by beginners
•  This mode provides improved visual usability through features such as an operation guidance display that uses illustrations
   to guide the operator, and a simplified user-interface that displays only the most-used measurement functions.

3.

Window display function
•  A function has been incorporated to display measurement results in the video window. With the addition of a tolerance
   judgment window to display results, OK/NG judgments can be seen at a glance.

4.

Class-leading measurement accuracy assured
•  Measurement accuracy within the screen and E1xy measurement accuracy are improved. (Refer to specifications below.)

5.

Megapixel color camera
•  The 3-megapixel built-in high-resolution digital color camera enables clear observation with high-accuracy dimensional
   measurement and high color repeatability, and image storage capabilities.

Key Features

1.

Easy measurement of 3-D workpieces with telecentric optical system
•  The large focal depth eliminates the need for focusing when measuring stepped or cylindrical workpieces, while the telecentric
   optical system reduces measurement error.

2.

 Switch between large-focal-depth mode (Normal) and high-resolution mode (High Resolution)
•  In addition to the large-focal-depth (normal) mode for a wide variety of workpieces, Quick Image includes a high-resolution
   mode for more accurate measurement. The user can switch between the two modes in a single action.

3.

 Wide field, rapid batch measurement and high-accuracy measurement
•  Together with a wide field of view and rapid batch measuring capabilities, Quick Image includes a high-resolution mode and
   advanced sub-pixel image processing technologies to enable accurate edge detection in even extremely small places, which
   enables wide field, highly efficiency and accurate measurement.

4.

 A choice of illumination systems
•  In addition to transmitted illumination, Quick Image includes vertical reflected illumination and a four-quadrant ring-light
   system as standard equipment. This provides the optimal illumination choices for contour measurement and for dimensional
   measurement of workpiece surfaces. High-luminance LED lighting is used for all illumination systems to achieve long service
   life and low power consumption, and to enable clear observation of images.

5.

Rich lineup of stages
•  Supporting stage sizes up to 400 × 200 mm enables larger measurement target workpieces, so from within a single screen, one
   large workpiece or a number of the same small workpieces can be measured. 

6.

 Replacement for visual inspection using projector overlay charts
•  Visual inspection (pattern matching) using the CAD user template function enables reduced inspection costs
