Mitutoyo Corporation (Headquarters: Takatsu-ku, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Toru Nakagawa) has launched two new power-driven Z-axis models of measuring microscope in the MF/MF-U series'. These microscopes have been developed to include Z-axis motor drive capability while retaining manual operation on the X and Y axes. Mitutoyo will exhibit all models in the MF/MF-U series' at JIMTOF2014, the 27th Japanese International Machine Tool Fair, from October 30th, and will be located at Booth No. W3021, West Hall 3, at Tokyo Big Sight.
The electrically-driven up/down movement for focusing on the new models provides better operability and serves to relieve fatigue in applications that would otherwise involve excessive operation of the focusing control knob. Mitutoyo has made intuitive manual operation of the microscope a priority by providing a quick release mechanism on each handle that lets you easily move to the target area without removing your hands from the X and Y handles when moving the stage.  Moreover, combine it with the optional image unit to perform ultra-fast, one-second focusing.
With a lineup that boasts a large stage for long stroke measurement of 400×200×220 (X×Y×Z-axes) mm, Mitutoyo's 80-year history in technology has taken measurement possibilities one step further and through its precision measuring technology, Mitutoyo makes a social contribution for the continual evolution of manufacturing.

New Features

Motor-driven Z-axis
The viewing head is motor-driven in the Z axis and controlled by using a jog shuttle placed near the
mote control box. Limit the downward stroke of the head at any point like by using the motor-drive to
set the lower limit of the head travel, which enables you to prevent the objective lens from colliding with
the workpiece. All of which allow you to operate the microscope without worry.

Key Features

1.

Built-in quick-release mechanisms and the zero-set buttons
Intuitively perform XY movements using the quick release mechanisms for simple and fast positioning that allows you to keep your hands on the handles at all times. Because the counter zero-set buttons are located near the handles, you can concentrate on the eyepiece during measurement without needing to release the XY handles.

2.

Wide field observation that's the best in its class
The eyepiece field number* of 24 (for WF10X) offers a wide field of view that helps prevent extended observation or measurement from causing eye fatigue.
* Width of an inspected object in millimeters that can be seen across the whole viewing field when a 1X objective lens is used.

3.

LED and Halogen Light Options for Transmitted and Reflected Illumination
An LED or halogen light can be selected for coaxial illumination in the main unit.

4.

Choice of XY measurement range
Various stages are available to provide measurement up to 400 (X) x 200 (Y) x 220 (Z) mm.

5.

Povides Image Auto-focus in combination with Image Unit (optional)
The new models give you the option of adding an image auto-focus feature which allows the microscope to focus in just one second while achieving a focus as sharp as that obtained with the human eye. With its 3-megapixel camera, high-resolution image observation is standard.

6.

Newly Designed Sliding Nosepiece (factory-set option) can be Installed
Because these microscopes come with a turret nosepiece (factory-set option) attached, the magnification can be quickly changed. In addition, you can now attach an LED ringlight to the nosepiece.
