Notice of change of accounting period

Mitutoyo Corporation has decided to change its accounting period from the current settlement date of March 20 every year to a new date of December 31 every year. The purpose of this change is to unify accounting periods with our overseas subsidiaries, thereby improving the efficiency of consolidated management and business operations, such as the planning of business programs and management of performance on a global basis.

The change of accounting period will occur during fiscal 2012, and so the accounting period for this fiscal term will be from March 21,
2012 until December 31, 2012.

Please note, this matter requires an amendment to our Articles of Incorporation, and, as such, is subject to the approval being given at the ordinary general meeting of shareholders scheduled for June 18, 2012.
