The Mitutoyo ABS Digimatic Indicator ID-CX won the Good Design Award at the 2009 Good Design Awards sponsored by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO). Mitutoyo won its first Good Design Award in 1988 and the ID-CX ABS Digimatic Indicator is the 33rd product for which Mitutoyo has won the award.
 [ Evaluation from the Judging Committee ] The Judging Committee of the 2009 Good Design Awards gave us the following comments when evaluating the ID-CX. Various types of measuring instruments are used on sites. The ID-CX is user friendly because its LCD area is increased by mounting the battery on the side, its indicator rotates 330°, and its three buttons are easy to use. The sharp appearance of the product emphasizes its high accuracy and reliability. In addition, the buttons are colored differently according to their functions, and the colors are common to other series, which aids recognition. Excellent design and user friendliness as a product group are combined to achieve a feeling of security and stability. [ Product overview ] The ID-CX is a standard digital indicator. It has an absolute sensor, eliminating the necessity of zero point specification every time the power is turned on. In addition, its large LCD display is easier to see and its three buttons are easy to use. The ID-CX is used for various application products that measure thickness, steps, and displacement, meeting various demands for measurement. (Many patents and designs have been registered for this product.) [ Design goals ] Indicators are indispensable measuring instruments for precision measurements, just like calipers and micrometers. We had three main goals when designing the ID-CX to ensure that it is a tool suitable for professional work: practicality, ease of use, and an attractive appearance.
