Transportation Handling of Lithium Metal and Lithium Ion Cells and Batteries

In response to the Recommendation on Transport of Dangerous Goods (Version 15, 2007) issued by the United Nations, part of the regulations to transport lithium metal and lithium ion cells and batteries are revised in the Dangerous Goods Regulations produced by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization's Technical Instructions (ICAO-TI), and the revised regulations will enter into force on January 1, 2009.

Transportation regulations on lithium metal and lithium ion cells and batteries are expected to be enforced on January 1, 2010 in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as well.

These particular cells and batteries used in Mitutoyo's products are subject to these regulations. Please pay careful attention to the air and sea transportation of the relevant products.

Compliance with these regulations is the cargo owner's responsibility. Before transporting Mitutoyo products using lithium cells/batteries, please contact your carrier for confirmation and take appropriate action.
