QUICK VISION STREAM PLUS

Based on the Quick Vision series, which has always been popular, Mitutoyo Corporation (head office: Takatsu-ku, Kawasaki; president: Kazusaku Tezuka) has developed and commercialized two series of Quick Vision Stream and Quick Vision Stream Plus products with measuring throughput more than five times higher than the previous series. The new products, which will go on sale in December, will be exhibited at the 22nd Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF 2004), which begins on November 1, 2004 at Tokyo Big Sight.

With ever-increasing demand for higher production efficiency in all industrial sectors today, there are high expectations of improved efficiency in measurement. For vision measurement systems, Mitutoyo has made strides in improving measurement efficiency by decreasing the total time needed to take measurements. This also includes increasing drive speed and acceleration/deceleration speeds, and decreasing image-processing time. In previous vision measurement systems, there was a need to completely stop the stage to ensure precision, which thwarted improvements in measuring throughput.

The newly developed Quick Vision Stream and Quick Vision Stream Plus use stroboscopic illumination with high-brightness LEDs, in addition to a double-speed scan camera, as part of an innovative system to obtain images without stopping the stage. This system maintains measurement precision while eliminating wasted time spent altering the speed of the stage drive and waiting for the stage to stop. Compared to the previous models, Quick Vision Stream and Quick Vision Stream Plus have increased throughput of roughly three-fold and more than five-fold respectively.

Also, both of the new series products are equipped with all the same powerful image processing functions as the previous models. As a result, the normal mode (of vision measurement) and STREAM mode can be used in combination on the same system, which can even be used on workpieces with stepped surfaces.

[Features]
1.
Measurement versatility

Users can switch between normal mode (of vision measurement) and STREAM mode with a part program. Depending on the point being measured, the system can also be set to switch automatically between the two modes. The newly added STREAM function based on the existing vision measurement functions also facilitates operation of the powerful vision measurement that users of previous models have enjoyed.
2.
Newly developed high-brightness LED illumination

Mitutoyo has developed high-brightness LED illumination unit that ensures sufficient lighting using either vision or stroboscopic illumination for all of the contour, surface, and PRL (programmable ring light) illumination units.
3.
Broad product line

Variations in stage size and accuracy for the new series are based on the former QV Apex, Hyper QV, and QV Accel series models.
