Mitutoyo to Hold Mitutoyo 70th Anniversary Exhibition with Theme of
"Innovation for the Future"

In commemoration of its 70th anniversary, Mitutoyo Corporation (head office: Sakado, Takatsu-ku, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; president: Kazusaku Tezuka) plans to hold a Mitutoyo Exhibition at its Utsunomiya Operations (2200 Shimoguri-machi, Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture) from April 12 to 16 based on the theme of "Innovation for the Future." The company will be celebrating its 70th anniversary in October of this year. The exhibition will feature not only a collection of precision measuring technologies that Mitutoyo has developed over the past 70 years, but also Mitutoyo's latest future-oriented precision measuring instruments. More than simply an exhibition of commercial products, this event will also include various exhibits in order for visitors to gain a deeper understanding Mitutoyo Corporation, including exhibits on its history of research and development, core technology, and guiding principles. Tours of the Utsunomiya Operations, seminars, and other events will be organized as part of the exhibition.

Mitutoyo was established in 1934 with the aim of manufacturing micrometers in Japan. Since then, the company has continued to produce a wide range of precision measuring instruments that meet the needs of the times based on its corporate philosophy of contributing to society through precision measurement, and the company will celebrate its 70th anniversary in October of this year. In this milestone year, under the theme "Innovation for the Future," the company will hold the Mitutoyo 70th Anniversary Exhibition to express its appreciation for 70 years of patronage and aim for further innovations in the future. This exhibition will be the largest event ever held by company, embodying the theme that Mitutoyo as a whole is making a united effort to address. The main venue of the event will be the new two-story plant built within Utsunomiya Operations (with a total floor area of 5,500 m2), and 5,000 visitors are expected to attend. This is the largest event every held by Mitutoyo, and will present everything from micrometers, Mitutoyo's starting point, to the latest precision measuring instruments, as well as diverse measurement solutions, Mitutoyo Nanometer World, and many of its proprietary technologies.

- Major Exhibits -

[Mitutoyo's 70-Year History]
A look at Mitutoyo's guiding principles from the time of the company's foundation, its domestic and overseas business activities, and the company's challenging 70-year history of producing precision measuring instruments.

[Micrometers: Mitutoyo's Starting Point]
This exhibition shows visitors the history of micrometers, the starting point of Mitutoyo, as well as a number of micrometers meeting the needs of a new age.

Coolant-proof micrometers

Soft-touch micrometers using constant and low measuring force

Large-size micrometers

Micrometer heads

Micrometers with special sizes and specifications, etc.

[Length Standards] - End Standards, Line Standards and Standards for Wavelengths
The exhibition will present various types of standards, calibration systems and testing equipment, which could be described as the length standards indispensable to establish and maintain the traceability of various measuring instruments used by customers to national standards,

Wavelength calibration system based on iodine stabilized He-Ne laser for length standard

Automatic gauge block interferometer with dual-wavelength: GBI

Stabilized He-Ne laser source: LIS-633, LIS-543

Comparative temperature calibration system (triple point of water, standard thermometer) -temperatures are an important element in length measurement

Square master

Straightness master, etc.

[Mitutoyo Nanometer World] - Introduction to the World of Nano-measurement
The exhibition will actively propose a wide range of solutions, including engineering services and systems using sensors of nanometer order, to meet growing demand for high-precision and microscopic measurement as technological innovations advance rapidly.

Products from Akashi Corporation (hardness testers, vibration measuring systems, seismic observation systems, vibration testers, balancers, etc.

[Solution Exhibits - 1: Measurement of Car Body]
This exhibit will demonstrate the measurement of a car body using a dual-type large-size and horizontal-axis CNC coordinate measuring machine. This machine uses a new structure that achieves high performance and low price, and it is capable of gathering data at a rate of 19,200 points per second using the LC50/LC100 line laser probe. Specialized software, based on existing software, which includes the additional function of measurement location search, which is indispensable to car body measurement, will also be on display.

[Solution Exhibits - 2: Measurement of Automobile Parts]
This exhibit will present various measuring instruments for use with automobile components. Examples include CNC form measuring systems capable of handling several types of measurements at the same time and automatically measuring several cross-sections to enable efficient measurement through the substantially reduction in the number of man-hours needed, including setup time, as well as easy-to-use small tools. A wide range of measurement solutions that take into consideration the carrying in and out of workpieces will be on display.
