In order to expand its line of measuring tools, Mitutoyo Corporation will introduce to the market many new measuring tools, most of which are variations of the existing models. At the same time, by improving its order-receiving system for special order items to accommodate each customer' s unique needs, Mitutoyo will actively expand its business as a provider of total measuring solutions. Many of these new products will be exhibited at "the 21st Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF2002)", which opens on October 28, 2002 at the Tokyo Big Sight, where Mitutoyo will also give suggestions to solve various measuring needs.
Based on users' responses to the recently released products, Mitutoyo has added more sizes and has expanded the variation of these models, the sale of which will start soon. In addition, Mitutoyo will aggressively send its new products into the market. First, it will introduce the high-performance height-measuring machines that have far more advanced functions and better accuracy than those of the conventional models. Second, it will release the measurement data control tools that use the increasingly popular PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). Mitutoyo will also introduce a new system for after-sale services, which is designed from the users' point of view.
For special order items, Mitutoyo will reduce the delivery time to 1/3 of that in the past by utilizing its new in-house special order price estimating system that was introduced last year. It will also revise its manufacturing system itself. For selecting the high demand, special-order measuring tools, Mitutoyo will create a new "Special Order Product Manual", to be given to Mitutoyo' s distributors during the month of October. This all is designed to quickly respond to requests from users for a price estimate of the special order items, and to build a system which allows Mitutoyo to provide solutions to various measuring needs. Furthermore, Mitutoyo will more positively accept orders for such items as: special size items; the granite surface plates (Graplate) and standards such as Gage Blocks, both of which demand special specifications; and the made-to-order precision screws that are made with the precision processing technology to produce micrometers.

Soft-touch Micrometer CLM series
|
The "Soft-touch Micrometer", an innovative Digimatic Micrometer with a variable measuring force for the measurement of soft materials, such as rubber and resin, has become a part of the series. The "CLM-QM", which has the standard specifications, has an expanded measuring range of 15 to 30mm. The "CLM-DK", which has the flange-type measuring faces (both on the spindle side and the anvil side), is suitable for the measurement of the root tangent length of plastic gears and for the measurement of paper thickness. The "CLM-MH" is a Micrometer Head type that can be built into the inspection jig made by the customer himself.

PocketDL / PocketML, a PDA type mobile data logger
|
A powerful data control tool that has been developed to give solutions to quality control. It adds value to a digital measuring tool. Two models are available: the "PocketDL", which collects on-site data into the PDA, then transmits it to a personal computer, and the "PocketML", a high-function model whose PDA directly performs various statistical analysis for a quick GO/NG judgment. Also available is the "Input Tool USB type", a data-input device that directly sends measurement data to a PC.
