Based on a totally new concept, Mitutoyo Corporation has developed the new "QUICK IMAGE SERIES" of two-dimensional vision measurements, providing wide field of view and high efficiency in measuring. The sale of the "QUICK IMAGE SERIES" starts on December 21, 2002, and they will be displayed at "the 21st Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF2002)", which opens on October 28, 2002 at the Tokyo Big Sight.
Mitutoyo created a lineup of powerful vision measurement machines by the model change of the entire "Quick Vision Series" non-contact vision measurement machines. By adding the new "Quick Vision Elf Series", which offers a high cost-performance ratio, Mitutoyo has seen a great success this spring with its customers in IT-related fields. However, the need for non-contact vision measurements is increasing, not only in these IT-related industries, but also in various other machining industries. The "QUICK IMAGE SERIES" is a series of two-dimensional vision measurement machines based on a new concept, and its application includes the fields that have been difficult for vision measurement machines. The "QUICK IMAGE SERIES" employs the two-sided telecentric optical system*, which enables focusing on thick workpieces or workpieces with steps, such as cylindrical sleeves or tools with blades. Since the "QUICK IMAGE SERIES" allows overall measurement in a wide field of view at a low-range magnification, workpieces with multiple measuring points (such as press-molded parts or molded resins) can be measured with high efficiency. With this new product targeted at a new market, Mitutoyo intends to secure its position in the market as one of the leading makers of vision measurement machines, completing its full line of vision measurement machines, from those with high-magnification, high-accuracy measurement capacity to those with low-magnification.
The "QUICK IMAGE SERIES" has a long depth of focus, which allows the measurement of workpieces with steps, cylindrical workpiece, or multi-dimensional workpiece with varied thickness, without any difficulty and its two-sided telecentric optical system greatly reduces measurement error. It allows the installation of a mega-pixel CCD camera to achieve a high-accuracy measurement and at the same time to greatly improve measuring efficiency by an overall measurement within a wide field of view (29.5 x 22.2mm). The "QUICK IMAGE SERIES" supports the transmitted illumination, as well as the reflected illumination and the LED circular illumination with four divisions to accommodate the dimensional measurement of the workpiece surface. Two models are available to choose from according to the application: the "fixed stage type" for inside measurement and the "XY stage type" with the measuring range of 50 x 50mm.
